French Château

The château is situated in grounds of over 220 acres, 84 of which are dedicated to an 18-hole, championship-standard golf course.

The beautiful château, built from stone and with fairy-tale twin towers, dates from the 18th century and boasts a total of 19 rooms. The entire building has been subject to a massive yet sympathetic overhaul and refurbishment over the past three years, and has thus been brought in line with the luxuries and facilities of the 21st century whilst retaining its original style and grandeur. The refurbishment has seen the installation of lavish soft furnishings and beautifully crafted English furniture of oak and cherry wood. Hand-made crystal chandeliers have been imported from the Czech Republic whilst the marble sink-tops and tiles come from Italy, Greece, and Spain. The beautiful wooden floors are adorned with rugs hand-made in Turkey.

Thirteen rooms have been refurbished and decorated to a very high standard to give luxurious en-suite double bedrooms, five of which are large suites and one is furnished to cater for a disabled person. With no major road in the close vicinity nor flight-path overhead, the château is surrounded by unrivalled natural beauty, peace and tranquility. So absolute is its serenity that visitors often exclaim that ‘This is Paradise!’

The estate is located in the Saône-et-Loire region of the Burgundy province of France. It is approximately a two-hour drive away Lyon International Airport, with Lyon being the second largest city of France; about a three-hour drive away from the Swiss city of Geneva; and a three-and-a-half hour drive from Paris.

Other big cities are Macon, famous for its wines and about an hour’s drive away; Vichy, renowned for its spas, water and ancient Roman heritage, about 45 minutes away; and Roanne, 25 minutes away.

We have successfully negotiated landing rights with a small local airport, only a 15-minute drive away, as well as having helicopter landing permission directly on the estate, whether from Paris, Lyon, Geneva or any other location

Outer Buildings

1. The Club House: The building has a large entrance hall, reception and shop, a bar and lounge with fireplace, a beautiful restaurant which can accommodate 60 guests, a fully-fitted professional kitchen and food-storage room and a large cold room fitted with a walk-in fridge. There are also changing rooms for ladies and gents with full washing and shower facilities.  In addition to the above, on the first floor there is a very large, fully air-conditioned function room with wooden floor and beamed ceiling. It has the capacity to accommodate 120 people and is ideal for weddings, anniversaries, birthday parties or any corporate function. On this floor there is also a secondary kitchen and ladies and gents cloakrooms.

La Maison

This is a lovely cottage-style house which has 11 rooms at present and can be extended to create 16 en-suite rooms in total. The work to refurbish this house is under consideration to be commenced in the near future.

Practice Area

An old farm building has been tastefully designed and converted into a modern practice/drive range with 8 bays, putting greens and a ball-dispensing machine. It is probably the only covered golf practice area in France.

Squash Area

Squash area: A large enclosed and roofed area, currently being used for caddy storage, is earmarked for future development as a squash court or further guest rooms.

Atelier / Studio

This building is being used to house various golf-course machinery and equipment for general maintenance. It is fully equipped with all the utilities and services.

Équrie/Stables

This building adjoins the club house and it has been earmarked for development as a luxury spa, with exercise and beauty treatment rooms.

There are well over 2,500 trees and shrubs on the estate and about nine small fresh-water lakes (approximately 5,000 square metres) fed by underground natural springs, all of them with an abundance of fish, mainly of the carp variety. There is a very pretty stream running through the middle of the estate, crossed by three private bridges. We have also created very large mixed flower-beds at various points around the estate. These are absolutely stunning.
